The Government do not however undertake: to maintain a

constant supply of water within any area. Until a supply of

water is rendered available by Government, facilities for sink-

-ing wells will be granted to the Concessionaires, who may

sink such wells at their own cost.

The option is granted to the Concessionaires to reclaim the whole

or any portion of the uncultivated marshy area between Aberdeen, Little

Hongkong and Brick Hill on the terms of (f), and (g), paragraph 3, and

subject to the following conditions:-

(v). Premium at the rate of $125 per acre, to be paid into the

Treasury within 7 days of the date of notification by the

Concessionaires that they propose to take up for beneficial purposes any part of the reclaimed area, term to commence in the case of each area taken up from this date.

(w). Crown Rent at the rate of $30 per acre commencing from the

date each area is taken up for building purposes referred to

in (v).

(x). The Concessionaires to undertake to reclaim this area or such

with portions as they may elect to take up in accordance plans to be approved by the Director of Public Works. Full provision to be made by the Concessionaires at their own expense and to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works for the discharge of all storm-water flowing in or upon such area and the reclamation work generally to be proceeded with and to be carried out in such sections and in such manner as that Officer may approve. The Government reserve the right to lay out a public road traversing the reclaimed ares in such direction as the Director of Public Works may determine with a view to its forming a portion of a road to encircle the major portion of the Island of Hongkong. No compensation to be paid in respect of any area occupied by such road but the "option" on at least equivalent additional areas in the vicinity shall be granted to the Concessionaires. The Government will grant reasonable facilities in the way of the Concessionaires obtaining materials for the construction and carrying
